The 9-B class always has its own way of making lessons unforgettable, even if it’s not exactly what anyone expects. That day, as usual, the class started with the loud chatter coming from every corner of the room. Some students were talking to each other, while others were busy with their phones, even though it was clearly against the rules.
(Kelas 9-B selalu punya cara sendiri untuk membuat pelajaran menjadi sesuatu yang tak terlupakan, meskipun kadang tidak seperti yang diharapkan. Hari itu, seperti biasa, kelas mulai dengan suara bising yang datang dari setiap sudut ruangan. At the front of the class, Mrs. Rina, our English teacher who had just entered, was holding a textbook with enthusiasm. She always tried so hard to look confident, even though her expression sometimes seemed a bit doubtful.

In this class, tenses is probably the most difficult topic. Everyone knows, even those who aren’t too fond of English, that tenses will be a problem. Miko, of course, didn’t care at all. Instead of being ready to learn, he turned his attention to something more interesting… himself.

The next day, the war on tenses continued, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how much longer we could keep it together. Mrs. Rina started off by reminding us about our homework. We all groaned in unison, a sound that was almost like a chant by now.

“Get used to it, Miko. Tenses are serious business,” I chimed in, laughing.

The class burst into laughter as Miko dramatically flopped back into his chair.

“But if I say I have eaten pizza while finishing my homework, is that right?” Miko asked again, as though he hadn’t caused enough trouble already.
(“Tapi kalau saya bilang I have eaten pizza while finishing my homework, itu benar, kan?” tanya Miko lagi, seolah dia belum cukup membuat masalah.)

“Ugh… Miko!” Zara groaned, rubbing her temples as if trying to stave off a headache.

Mrs. Rina sighed. “That’s… technically possible, but please try to focus. We are discussing past simple and present perfect right now.”

Despite the chaos Miko often caused, I couldn’t help but admire how he could turn every lesson into something more memorable.

Zara rolled her eyes, though a smile was tugging at her lips. “I can’t believe we actually won with that ridiculous story.”

Mrs. Rina handed us the prize: a big box of colorful pens. “You earned it,” she said with a wink. “But I must say, the real winner here is the power of teamwork and creativity.”

Zara raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “I have a few ideas. Maybe we can use them for the next class project… to make it just as ridiculous as this one.”
(Zara mengangkat alis, ada kilauan nakal di matanya. “Aku punya beberapa ide. Mungkin kita bisa pakai ini untuk proyek kelas berikutnya… supaya konyol kayak yang ini.”)

I laughed. “As long as we get more pens, I’m in.”

And so, with our ridiculous but creative victory in hand, we learned something important that day: sometimes, making mistakes and being a little silly is the best way to get ahead. The whole class was filled with laughter, and we realized that English wasn’t just about rules and grammar—it was also about having fun with words.

As the bell rang and the class began to pack up, I glanced at Miko and Zara. “Next time, I vote for a drama project. Maybe less time travel, though.”
(Saat bel berbunyi dan kelas mulai bersiap-siap, aku memandang Miko dan Zara. “Lain kali, aku pilih proyek drama. Mungkin nggak usah perjalanan waktu lagi sih.”)

“Deal,” Miko grinned. “But I’m going to make sure we get more pens.”
(“Setuju,” Miko tersenyum lebar. “Tapi aku bakal pastiin kita dapet lebih banyak pulpen.”)

And with that, we walked out of the classroom, ready for whatever ridiculous challenge the next day would bring.
