Adventure at Tangkuban Perahu
Fun Plan: A Trip to Tangkuban Perahu
(Rencana Menyenangkan: Perjalanan ke Tangkuban Perahu)
The day started with a message that made me smile. In the middle of a boring history lesson, my phone vibrated in my uniform pocket. My eyes glanced at the teacher who was busy writing on the board, then I immediately took my phone out of my pocket and opened the message in our group chat. Suddenly a message appeared from Alya, my best friend who loves to plan spontaneous events.
“Hey, girls! How about we go to Tangkuban Perahu this weekend? It’ll be so much fun!”
I immediately felt excited. I had heard about the beauty of Tangkuban Perahu, a legendary volcano that has a folk tale about Sangkuriang. It had always been my dream destination, but for some reason I had never been there. Imagining the fresh mountain air, the adventure of climbing its crater, and spending time with my best friends made my heart beat faster.
Without hesitation, I immediately typed a reply.
“I’m in! Let’s make it happen!”
As soon as the message was sent, a feeling of joy immediately overflowed in my chest. I could imagine how fun this trip would be as a stress reliever from the busy school routine. My best friends, Alya, Rina, and Sari, always know how to make ordinary moments extraordinary. We are an inseparable group, and every adventure with them is always accompanied by laughter and joy.
When school hours are over, we gather in the school garden to make plans for the next day. As usual, Alya has prepared everything. Starting from the departure schedule to what we should bring, she has considered everything.
“So, we leave Saturday morning, at 7 am sharp. I checked the weather, it will be sunny all day, so don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen,” said Alya while opening her cellphone to see the weather forecast.
“Don’t forget to bring snacks too,” added Sari who is always busy reminding us about the little things that are often forgotten.
Rina, who has a serious face, just nods while writing in her notebook, as if this is an important task that must be completed.
I saw them smile. This always makes me feel lucky to have friends who are not only fun, but also caring. We always complement each other. When one of us was tired or faced problems, the other was always there to support us.
The long-awaited day finally arrived. Saturday morning, the air was still fresh and the sun had just begun to shine in the sky. In front of my house, a minivan was parked, ready to take us to our next adventure. Alya sat in the front as the navigator, with Sari beside her busy compiling a music playlist. Rina sat in the middle with a pile of snacks on her plate, and I, of course, sat in the back, enjoying every second of this journey.
The road to Tangkuban Perahu turned out to be full of amazing views. Along the way, we passed through green pine forests and valleys filled with tea plants. The gentle breeze blowing through the car windows made it feel fresh, and the sound of our laughter filled the air making the journey even more enjoyable.
“I can’t wait to see the crater!” I exclaimed amidst the laughter that erupted because of Sari’s absurd joke.
“We’re going to take a lot of pictures, and I promise we’ll go viral on Instagram,” Alya said confidently, as usual.
We continued to talk about everything, from silly teenage love stories to our future plans after graduating from school. There was warmth in every word that came out of our mouths, and I felt truly alive at that moment among my best friends, heading to my dream destination.
However, behind all this cheerfulness, there was a little worry that bothered my mind. Maybe, this was just the usual nervousness that arises before a big adventure, or maybe I was afraid that today was too perfect, and I was worried that something could go wrong. But I tried to ignore those feelings. This was a day that we had planned so well, and I wouldn’t let myself ruin it with unnecessary anxiety.
After a few hours of traveling, we finally arrived at the gate of Tangkuban Perahu. The view in front of me made me pause for a moment. In front of me, the great mountain stood majestically, and thin smoke could be seen billowing from its crater. The fresh and cool mountain air immediately contacted us, making the tiredness from the journey disappear in an instant.
“I can’t believe we’re finally here,” I whispered while taking a deep breath of fresh air.
Sari who was standing next to me just smiled and put her arm around my shoulder. “This is just the beginning, Dania. There are still many exciting things waiting for us at the top.”
We started the climb with light steps, full of enthusiasm. Although the path was a bit steep, none of us complained. Every step felt like a small achievement, especially with the laughter and jokes that continued to accompany us. Every now and then, we stopped to take photos of the extraordinary scenery, or just to enjoy the calm natural atmosphere.
As we approached the peak, my breath began to feel heavy. However, seeing the enthusiasm of Alya and the others, I pushed myself to keep going. With every breath, there was a feeling that I was heading towards something bigger. This adventure was not only about enjoying the scenery, but also about the small struggles that would become beautiful memories in the future.
When we finally reached the top, the fatigue disappeared. In front of us, lay a large crater surrounded by towering rock walls. Thin smoke continued to billow from the bottom of the crater, creating a beautiful mystical atmosphere. We all remembered, enchanted by this extraordinary natural beauty.
“Worth every step,” I said breathlessly, but with a big smile on my face.
Alya nodded in agreement. “We did it! This is amazing.”
At the top of Tangkuban Perahu, under the bright blue sky, I felt a happiness that was hard to explain. This journey was not only about reaching the destination, but also about celebrating every moment of struggle, laughter, and friendship that accompanied it. There, on the edge of the crater, I knew that this adventure would be one of the best memories of a lifetime.
Pasti seru banget!”
Aku langsung merasa bersemangat.
Tanpa ragu, aku langsung mengetik balasan.
“Aku ikut! Ayo kita wujudkan!”
“Jadi, kita berangkat Sabtu pagi, tepat pukul 7 pagi.
Aku melihat mereka tersenyum.
Journey with Laughter: Friends on the Road
(Perjalanan dengan Tawa: Sahabat di Jalan)
While we were still at the top of Tangkuban Perahu, I stood for a moment, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the incredible view before my eyes. It felt like a dream come true. Here I am, with my best friends, in a place that I could only see in textbooks or photos on the internet. Now, I feel it all for real, the cool breeze, the smell of sulfur from the crater, and the comfort of peaceful nature.
However, there was no time to think for long. Alya, with her typical enthusiasm, immediately took out her camera from her bag. “Okay, girls, this is the time! We have to capture it!” she exclaimed, making us all laugh. She always knows how to keep the atmosphere cheerful, and I can’t wait to relive it with them in this beautiful place.
We started to wake up. From formal style with big smiles to silly poses that made us laugh until our stomachs hurt. Alya continued to direct us, while Sari, with her antics, always managed to liven up the atmosphere with spontaneous jokes.
“Come on, try the jumping style! One…two…three!” Alya shouted while pressing the camera button. We all jumped together, even though the result was not perfect, but that didn’t matter. Our laughter echoed, echoing among the hills around the crater.
“after I can’t believe we actually got here,” Rina said while panting for the last jump. “This… is more than just a dream. I feel like I’m part of something bigger.”
I agree with every word Rina said. This was indeed not just an ordinary trip. Every second with them was a precious moment, and I know, these memories will continue to stick in my mind for years to come.
We spent a few hours at the top, walking around the crater, enjoying the extraordinary natural panorama. Every corner offered a different view from the green hills that stretched to the thin mist that floated above the crater. Rina, who was usually quiet, seemed more cheerful today. She kept taking photos and seemed amazed at every detail of nature that we saw.
However, as the saying goes, everything beautiful must have its own challenges. After lingering at the top, it was time for us to go down. The descent from Tangkuban Perahu was more challenging than I had imagined. The steep path, slippery rocks, and our bodies that were already tired from the previous climb made our steps feel heavy.
Alya, who was usually full of energy, looked a little tired. “Guys, I think we should be more careful. This path is more slippery than I thought.”
I nodded in agreement. Although the scenery around us was still stunning, my focus was now on the small steps beneath my feet. Every step felt important, and I tried to maintain my balance while keeping up with my friends’ rhythm. However, in the middle of the descent, something unexpected happened.
As we walked down the rocky path, Rina suddenly slipped. “Aah!” she screamed, making us all jump. I immediately turned around and saw Rina’s body almost falling to the ground. Luckily, Sari quickly caught her hand before she actually fell.
“Oh, Rina! Are you okay?” I asked worriedly as I approached them.
Rina nodded, although her face looked shocked. “I’m okay, just shocked,” she replied with a thin smile. However, I could see a hint of fear in her eyes. After all, this path was indeed quite dangerous, especially for those of us who were not used to steep terrain.
After that incident, the atmosphere became a little more serious. We walked more carefully, making sure every step was safe before going any further. I could feel Alya’s worry starting to increase. Usually she was the most enthusiastic, but this time she seemed more alert.
Even so, despite all the challenges, our spirit of friendship never faded. Whenever one of us felt tired or hesitant, the other was always there to support us. When my steps began to slow down due to fatigue, Alya turned around and offered her hand. “Come on, Dania, we’re almost there. Don’t give up now.”
Her hand felt warm when I took it, and with that little push, I felt excited again. This wasn’t just about the physical journey, but also about how we supported each other, in any situation.
After a long, hard journey, we finally arrived back at the parking lot, where our mini van was waiting. We were all panting, sweat pouring down, but nothing could replace the feeling of pride that was welling up in my chest. We have conquered Tangkuban Perahu with both its beauty and challenges.
Before getting into the car, we sat for a moment on the side of the road, enjoying the remaining time on the mountain. The sun was starting to set, and the sky above us turned golden orange. The view felt like a reward for all the struggles we had gone through.
“This is amazing,” I whispered softly, mostly to myself. “I can’t believe we actually did it.”
Sari, who was sitting next to me, smiled. “This is more than just a trip. This is about how we made it through everything together.”
I nodded in agreement. Even though we were tired, we still felt happy. And I knew, in moments like this, we weren’t just friends. We were family. We weren’t just about laughter and joy, but friendship was also about how we supported each other in difficult times.
The ride home was filled with endless laughter. Even though our bodies were tired, our spirits never waned. Alya, who was sitting in the front seat, started playing cheerful music that accompanied our journey. Our favorite pop songs echoed inside the car, while we sang along as if exhaustion had never touched us.
As the minivan rolled down the winding mountain road, I looked out the window. The green scenery still felt peaceful, but in my mind, I was contemplating the meaning of this journey. It was not just about reaching the summit or enjoying the beauty of nature, but about the process of struggle, fear, and how we managed to get through it together.
I smiled to myself. This journey, although full of challenges, was one of the best experiences in my life. And I knew, no matter what the future held, I could always count on my friends. With them, I knew I could face anything, be it the challenging journey up, or the struggling journey down.
That day, I learned that no matter how difficult the road is, as long as we walk together, nothing is impossible.
Kami pun mulai terbangun.
“Ayo, coba gaya lompat! Satu…dua…tiga!” teriak Alya sambil menekan tombol kamera.
“Duh, Rina! Kamu nggak apa-apa?” tanyaku cemas sambil mendekati mereka.
Rina mengangguk, meski wajahnya tampak kaget. “Aku nggak apa-apa, cuma kaget aja,” jawabnya sambil tersenyum tipis.
Unbreakable Bond: The Power of Friendship
(Ikatan yang Tak Terpecahkan: Kekuatan Persahabatan)
Our journey down the mountain was indeed tiring, but the warmth of friendship that flowed between us became the main force to keep going. Although after the incident when Rina slipped, the atmosphere became a little tense, I felt something deeper. There was a strong sense of solidarity, flowing without having to be said. We all knew that this journey was a challenge, but behind it, there was a bigger lesson waiting.
When we were sitting comfortably again in the mini van that took us home, my body really felt tired. However, in that tiredness, there was a feeling of peace that filled my heart with satisfaction. I looked at the faces of my friends one by one. Alya, who was sitting in front, seemed to be trying to catch her breath, but her small smile never disappeared. Sari was joking with Rina, making sure my friend who had almost fallen was okay. Meanwhile, Rina, even though her legs still hurt a little, continued to laugh and radiate positive energy as usual.
Outside, the scenery changed to a forest that was starting to be covered in thick darkness, but inside the van, the atmosphere was bright and full of laughter. Alya, who is known to be the mood maker, started playing our favorite playlist. Upbeat pop songs immediately filled the car cabin. Instantly, the atmosphere changed, and our spirits rose again as if the mountain during the climb had never existed.
“Let’s sing together!” Alya shouted as she turned up the volume of the music. “Come on, girls, show your energy!”
The others and I laughed, but without needing to be asked twice, we all started singing along to the song being played. Laughter and dissonant voices mixed together, but no one cared. In the midst of the distraction, I felt an incredible sense of freedom. Nothing could stop us today. This moment, although simple, felt so special.
The feeling of joy continued until we arrived at a rest stop for dinner. We stopped at a small restaurant on the side of the road. This simple restaurant was filled with the tempting aroma of Sundanese cuisine. From sate maranggi to smoky nasi liwet, everything made our rumbling stomachs scream for more.
“Wow, my stomach can’t take it anymore!” Sari exclaimed as she stared at the menu. Shining brightly with enthusiasm.
“I agree! Let’s order everything!” Alya replied with a laugh, even though I knew she didn’t really mean to order everything.
That dinner was one of the unforgettable moments. We shared stories about our experiences at Tangkuban Perahu, teased Rina who almost fell, and laughed until tears came out. However, behind the laughter, I felt a different warmth. There was a deep sense of gratitude for being able to be with them. My friends were not just ordinary friends, they were family.
After finishing eating, we returned to the van, our stomachs full, our hearts happy, and our eyes starting to feel dizzy. However, the journey home was still long. We had to pass through winding roads leading to Bandung. The darkness of the night began to descend, and only street lights and car headlights ended our journey.
In the car, the atmosphere began to calm down. The songs that were played also changed to softer and more soothing. Sari had fallen asleep in the back seat, while Alya remained awake, even though she looked exhausted. I sat next to Rina, who was now starting to complain a little about her sore feet.
“Do your feet still hurt?” I asked, feeling a little worried.
Rina nodded, frowning. “Yeah, it’s pretty bad. But it’s okay, it’s still bearable,” she replied. But I could see from her face that the pain was probably worse than she was admitting.
Without thinking, I reached into my bag, looking for the balm I always carried with me for emergencies. “Here, let me apply the balm first. So it doesn’t get worse.”
Rina smiled a little, maybe feeling a little embarrassed, but she didn’t refuse. I applied the balm to her sore leg, while she just stayed silent and held her breath, trying to ignore the pain. At that moment, I realized how important small moments like this were. Although it seemed simple, a little attention in difficult times like this could make a big difference.
“Thank you, Dania,” she said softly after I finished. “You always care about others.”
I smiled, feeling touched. “Well, you mean best friends, right? We help each other when someone needs it.”
That short conversation made me reflect again. Behind all the joy and laughter, this journey was also about supporting and strengthening each other. When one of us is tired or hurt, the other is always there to help. It’s not just about the physical, but also about the feeling of a bond that is more than just a simple friendship.
The journey home felt long, but not boring. Even when we started to fall asleep one by one, there was a warmth that remained in the car. Maybe the tiredness had started to make our bodies tremble, but our hearts were still full of happiness and gratitude. That night, I truly realized that friendship is one of the greatest gifts a person can have.
When the car began to approach the city of Bandung, I woke up from my short sleep. The city lights began to appear in the peace, and the quiet mountain atmosphere was replaced by the hustle and bustle of city life that was writhing again. I felt a little sad because this trip was almost over, but I also knew that this was not the end of our story. There were still many other adventures waiting ahead.
Alya, who was still half awake in front, turned and looked at us with a tired but satisfied smile. “Girls, we made it,” softly but meaningfully.
I could only nod in agreement. We had gone through challenges together, felt happiness and hardship together, and now we were returning home with stronger hearts and deeper friendship.
When the car stopped in front of my house, I got out carrying my bag and looked at the sky that had gone completely dark. The night air was cool, and the sound of cars driving away faded into the distance. I stood in front of the door, thinking about everything that had happened today. There was such a deep sense of happiness, and in my heart, I knew that I would never forget this journey, a journey that was not just about climbing a mountain, but also about how we grew and supported each other as friends.
That day, I learned that nothing could stop us as long as we were together.
“Kita nyanyi bareng, yuk!” seru Alya sambil menaikkan volume musik. “Ayo, gadis-gadis, tunjukkan energimu!”
“Wah, perutku udah gak tahan lagi!” seru Sari sambil menatap daftar menu. Bersinar bersinar-sinar penuh antusiasme.
“Saya setuju!
“Kaki kamu masih sakit?” tanyaku, merasa sedikit khawatir.
Rina mengangguk sambil mengerutkan dahi. “Iya, lumayan.
“Terima kasih, Dania,” ucapnya pelan setelah aku selesai. “Kamu selalu peduli sama yang lain.”
Aku tersenyum, merasa tersentuh.
The Final Challenge: Fighting Fear Together
(Tantangan Terakhir: Melawan Rasa Takut Bersama)
After a long and enjoyable journey, the car finally stopped right in front of my house. The night was so quiet, only the sound of the wind blowing softly welcoming the tranquility. I stood in front of the door, still wearing the thick jacket I had brought since morning, but my heart was not ready to really end this day. The trip to Tangkuban Perahu with my friends was indeed full of jokes, laughter, and even a little tension, but more than that, today made me realize how meaningful our friendship is.
After thanking the driver and my friends, I went inside the house. Mom was waiting for me in the living room with a relieved smile.
“You’re home, Dania. How was your trip?” she asked softly with full attention.
I nodded while taking off my jacket and shoes. “Great, Mom. Very fun. Tired, but satisfied.”
Mom smiled, as if she understood that this trip was not just an ordinary trip. “Thank God you came home safely. I’ll tell you later, Mom is waiting.”
That night, after taking a shower and changing clothes, I lay on the bed with a body that felt heavy from exhaustion. However, my mind still wandered to the moments at Tangkuban Perahu. How we climbed together, faced the challenges of nature, and most importantly, how we strengthened each other. We were truly tested, and we managed to get through it with a stronger bond of friendship than before.
However, our journey was not completely over.
The next morning, in the group chat, Alya immediately sent a message: “Girls, I have an idea. Let’s do something crazier!”
The message woke me up from my morning reverie. What else did Alya plan this time? We had just had one big adventure, and now she already had an idea for something more challenging?
Sari: “Oh, Alya, what else? I was just about to take a break!”
Rina: “Don’t do something that will hurt your feet again, okay? Haha.”
I laughed reading Rina’s reply, but curiosity began to arise. Of course, Alya never runs out of ideas for interesting things.
Alya: “Well, considering we all have our own fears, right? How about we challenge ourselves to face them, together? Not just physically, but also mentally. Let’s conquer our fears together!”
I was ready to read her idea. A challenge to face my fears? Something that I might have avoided all this time. Fear is like a shadow that is always in my mind, but rarely faced directly. Meanwhile, Alya was already excited to make a plan for today.
Dania: “Okay, but… do you have an example? What kind of fear do we want to face?”
Alya: “I myself am also afraid of heights, but I have wanted to try Flying Fox in Bandung for a long time. How about we start from there? Is there anyone else who wants to share their fears?”
Sari: “OMG, Alya, Flying Fox?! I’m not sure I can do it, I’m afraid of heights too!”
Rina: “I’m afraid of crowds. I don’t know, I get anxious when I’m in a crowded place.”
I remembered for a moment. What about me? What’s my biggest fear? Unconsciously, I thought of something that always made my heart pound and I sweat when speaking in public. So far, I’ve always avoided tasks that force me to speak in front of many people. Maybe this is the time to be honest with myself and my friends.
Dania: “I’m afraid of speaking in front of many people. It always makes me nervous.”
There was a pause before Alya replied.
Alya: “Perfect! That means this is the perfect challenge. We all have our own fears, and we will face them together. Whoever completes the challenge first must help the others. Agreed?”
With a little hesitation, we all agreed. This time, the journey was no longer about physical. We would fight mental and emotional fears, something that felt much more difficult than just climbing a mountain.
That morning, we met at the Flying Fox place outside the city of Bandung. The morning air was cold, but it wasn’t just the air that made my heart beat fast. Standing under the rope hanging in the air, I could see Sari and Alya’s faces filled with anxiety.
“Why do we have to start from here?” Sari complained while looking at a Flying Fox track that was stretching above the valley.
“We’re already here, there’s no turning back,” Alya answered with a little trembling, even though she tried to look brave.
One by one, we had to climb onto a high platform and slide across the deep valley. Alya, as the one who initiated this idea, was the first. Although she looked hesitant, she finally slid with a scream full of adrenaline. When she arrived at the end, Alya pointed her hand excitedly, even though her face was still pale.
“See? It’s easy!” she shouted out of curiosity.
Sari, who was next, looked even more anxious. Her hands were shaking as she held the safety rope. I could see how real her fear was, but she didn’t give up. With a little encouragement from the officer, she finally slid too, holding her breath throughout the journey. When she arrived at the end, she immediately sat down, but a relieved laugh flowed from her mouth.
Now, it’s my turn.
My heart was pounding as I stared at the Flying Fox rope in front of me. My legs felt heavy, as if refusing to let me move forward. But I knew this wasn’t just about facing my fear of heights. This was proving to myself that I could face anything scary, as long as I was with my friends.
Taking a deep breath, I put on my harness and got ready. The sun was starting to rise, sending warm rays of light through the cold morning air. Below, the deep valley looked terrifying, but I focused on what was in front of me.
“I can do it. I can do it,” I whispered to myself.
And finally, with a final push, I was off. The wind that brushed my face felt both terrifying and exhilarating. The fear that had been so overwhelming at first was now starting to turn into an overwhelming sense of relief. I screamed out loud, letting out all the anxiety and joy that had been mingling in my chest.
When my feet finally touched the ground at the end of the track, my body was shaking, but this time not from fear. But because I had succeeded. I had conquered my fear.
We all hugged each other when it was over. Despite the fatigue, there was a sense of pride that filled our hearts. This challenge was not just about our fears against each other, but also about supporting each other and showing that we could get through anything together.
That day, we went home not just as friends, but as victors over our own fears.
Namun, perjalanan kami belum sepenuhnya berakhir.
Sari: “Oh, Alya, apa lagi? Aku baru saja mau istirahat!”
Haha.”
Aku tertawa membaca balasan Rina, tetapi rasa penasaran mulai muncul.
Alya: “Yah, mengingat kita semua punya ketakutan masing-masing, kan? Bagaimana kalau kita tantang diri kita untuk menghadapinya, bersama-sama? Tidak hanya secara fisik, tapi juga mental. Mari kita taklukkan ketakutan kita bersama-sama!”
Saya siap membaca idenya.
Dania: “Oke, tapi… kamu punya contoh? Ketakutan kayak gimana yang mau kita hadapi?”
Alya: “Aku sendiri juga takut sama ketinggian, tapi aku udah lama pengen nyoba Flying Fox di Bandung. Bagaimana kalau kita mulai dari sana? Ada yang lain yang mau berbagi ketakutannya?”
Sari: “OMG, Alya, Flying Fox?!
Rina : “Aku takut sama keramaian. Entahlah, suka cemas kalau di tempat ramai.”
Aku teringat sejenak. Bagaimana dengan aku? Apa ketakutan terbesarku?
Aku mengalahkan ketakutanku.
Kami semua saling berpelukan ketika semuanya selesai.
